He was an Indian politician.
Ahamed served as Minister of State for External Affairs in the Manmohan Singh government (2004–14).
Ahamed represented the Malappuram Lok Sabha constituency of Kerala and was the National President of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML).
On January 31, 2017, E. Ahamed suffered a cardiac arrest during the President’s address to the joint sitting of Parliament.
E. Ahamed was admitted critically in ICU in RML Hospital at Capital.
The hospital officially announced his death at 2.15 am (IST), on 1 February 2017.
Ahamed suffered a cardiac arrest while both houses of parliament were being jointly addressed by President Pranab Mukherjee.
E. Ahamed passed away at 78 years old.
