Klaas Bruinsma was born on February 1, 1931,in Easterein and died on October 29, 2018, in Drachten.

He was a West Frisian language translator of historical works from Dutch, Spanish and Greek, among others.

He has interpreted the works Karel ende Elegast and Beatrijs.

Bruinsma was granted the Obe Postma prize for his interpretation from Greek of the tragedies of Sophocles, in 1993.

Bruinsma acquired this prize for the second time for his interpretation of Virgil’s Georgics and particularly for his interpretations of the Iliad and the Odyssey of Homer, in 2005.

Until his retirement, Bruinsma was an instructor of English and history at the Ichthus College in Drachten, among others.

Klaas Bruinsma passed away at 87 years old.
