Dudley Leonard Storey was born on November 27, 1939, in Wairoa, New Zealand and died on March 6, 2017.

He was a New Zealand rower.

He won two Olympic medals.

He had received an invitation to the Henley Royal Regatta, he won the inaugural Prince Phillip Challenge Cup regatta in 1963 in Henley-on-Thames.

In that same year, the Henley regatta was regarded as the event that came closest to a world championship.

Bob Page was the cox, the team was Darien Boswell, Peter Masfen and Alistair Dryden.

In the 1983 New Year Honours, he served as the Officer of the Order of the British Empire for services to rowing.

His medal-winning 1968 rowing crew was inducted into the New Zealand Sports Hall of Fame in 1990.

The boat that won the 1963 Prince Phillip Challenge Cup, bought in England for £300, is on display at the Auckland Rowing Club.

He died in Auckland, after he was recently diagnosis of motor neurone disease.

Dudley Storey passed away at 77 years old.
