Doug Raney was born on August 29, 1956, and died in May 2016.

He was an American jazz guitarist.

Doug Raney was the son of Jimmy Raney.

He started his career in his father’s band, with Al Haig, at the age of 18.

Later, Doug Raney played in a duo with his father.

As a leader Doug Raney recorded for Steeple Chase extensively in the 1970s and 1980s, and worked with Kenny Barron, Joey DeFrancesco, Billy Hart, Duke Jordan, Jesper Lundgaard, Horace Parlan, Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen, Tomas Franck, Bernt Rosengren, and Chet Baker among others.

He emigrated to Denmark in 1977.

Doug Raney passed away at 59 yrs old.
