Doreen Barbara Massey was born on January 3, 1944, and died on March 11, 2016.

She was a British social scientist and geographer.

She was working among others on topics involving Marxist geography, feminist geography, and cultural geography.

Doreen Massey work on space, place and power has been highly influential within a range of related disciplines and research fields.

Massey had served as Emeritus Professor of Geography at the Open University.

Doreen completely studied at Oxford and later did a Masters in Regional Science at the University of Pennsylvania, beginning her career with a thinktank, the Centre for Environmental Studies (CES) in London.

Her work with CES reveals several key analysts of the contemporary British economy, and Massey established a working partnership with Richard Meegan, among others.

However, CES was closed down and she relocated into academia at the Open University.

In 2009, she retired but remained a frequent media commentator, particularly on industry and regional trends.

Her career as a Emeritus Professor at the OU she continued her speaking engagements and involvement in educational TV programmes and books.

She was the winner of many awards and contributed to many books.

Doreen Massey passed away at 72 yrs old.
