Don Friedman, American jazz pianist, Died at 81

Donald Ernest Friedman was born on May 4, 1935, in San Francisco, California, and died on June 30, 2016.

He was better known as Don Friedman.

He was a jazz pianist.

While he lived on the West Coast, Don performed with Dexter Gordon, Chet Baker, Buddy DeFranco and Ornette Coleman, among others, before moving to New York.

Whilst he was there, Friedman led his own trio in addition to playing in Pepper Adams’s, Booker Little’s and Jimmy Giuffre’s bands in the 60’s.

Don Friedman was also a part of Clark Terry’s big band.

His most recent work, was in New York as a pianist and jazz educator.

Don Friedman was very popular in Japan, and has toured the country.

Don Friedman passed away at 81 years old.
