Don Edwin Coleman was born on May 4, 1928, and died on January 30, 2017.

He was an American football player.

He played high school football at Flint Central High School and college football at Michigan State University.

Coleman was a unanimous All-American in 1951, the first African-American All-American football player at Michigan State.

Coleman was also the first Michigan State player to have his jersey number retired by the school.

During 1968, Coleman also became the first African-American to serve on the coaching staff at Michigan State.

He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1975.

Don Coleman passed away at 88 years old.
