Dipak Desai died on April 10, 2017.
He was an American physician and convicted murderer.
Dr. Dipak Desai owned 65 % of the Endoscopy Center of Southern Nevada.
Other owners includes Dr. Eladio Carrera (14%) Dr. Clifford Carrol and Dr. Vishvinder Sharma.
The facility is a private same day surgery facility located in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The facility sent out notices to around forty thousand patients telling them that they may have been exposed to Hepatitis C and HIV at the center.
Which was due to “unsafe injection practices related to the administration of anesthesia medication might have exposed patients to the blood of other patients”.
The event was the largest of such notification in the United States.
The findings was the result of an investigation by the health district, the Nevada State Bureau of Licensure and Certification (BLC) and with consultation from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Before this took place, the largest outbreak, linked to bad injection practices, occurred in Fremont, Nebraska, where 99 cancer patients were infected at an oncology center from 2001 to 2002.
One person had died.
Dipak Desai passed away at 67 years old.
