Major General David Crichton Alexander was born on November 28, 1926 and died on January 5, 2017.

He was a senior Royal Marines officer.

Alexander was educated at the Edinburgh Academy and joined the Royal Marines in 1944.

He served in the East Indies Fleet, and with 45 Commando, and in Malaya, Malta, and the Suez Canal Zone in 1951–1954.

From 1954–1957 Alexander was Parade Adjutant, RM Lympstone.

Alexander was then Equerry and acting Treasurer to His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh 1957–1960.

David Alexander passed away at 90 yeas old.
