Daniel Claudiu Prodan was born on March 23, 1972, and died on November 16, 2016.
He was a Romanian footballer.
Daniel played mainly as a central defender.
His career ended due to injuries, he played mainly for Steaua Bucureşti, representing the Romanian national team in one World Cup and one European Championship.
He won 54 caps for Romania between 1993 and 2001, and was in the squad for the 1994 FIFA World Cup (all complete matches for the quarter-finalists) and UEFA Euro 1996.
In the last five years of his career Rangers also included – Prodan only appeared in 33 matches combined while representing four teams, retiring at the age of 31 with FC Naţional Bucureşti.
Daniel’s only goal arrived on 12 November 1994, as he contributed to a 3–2 win in Bucharest against Slovakia for the latter competition’s qualifiers.
His younger brother, Ciprian, was also a footballer.
He died of a heart attack.
