Dead. Dan Iordachescu, born June 2, 1930 in the city Vanju Mare, Mehedinti County, Oltenia, Romania and died August 30, 2015. He is a Romanian baritone.
Dan Iordachescu was born in Vânju Mare with Moldovan descent.
He graduated in Theatre from Iasi (1948-1949), then the Music “Porumbescu” in Bucharest (1952-1956); here he was guided by a Romanian elite pedagogy singing masters Constantin Stroescu, Petre Stefanescu Goanga, directors Jean Rânzescu, Panait V. Cottescu and conductor Jean Bobescu.
He studied singing complementary to Salzburg (Mozarteum 1956), Paris (1958-1960) and Rome (1960).
Iordachescu started in Bucharest in December 1949 at the Theatre in the role of CCS “kulaks” from the operetta “Song of new life” by Florin Comişel being guided voice and high techniques opera singer Maria Snejina.
As a first soloist debuted in December 1956 at the Theater of Opera and Ballet in Bucharest.
Dan Iordachescu undertook 262 international tournaments in 61 countries ( România, Polonia, Bulgaria, Ungaria, Grecia, Turcia, Rusia, Finlanda, Iugoslavia, Bosnia, Croația, Slovenia, Cehia, Slovacia, Austria, Italia, Elveția, Germania, Suedia, Norvegia, Danemarca, Olanda, Belgia, Franța, Principatul Monaco, Spania, Portugalia, Anglia, Irlanda, Ucraina, Estonia, Lituania, Letonia, Gruzia, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Moldova, SUA, Canada, Mexic, Guatemala, Panama, Venezuela, Brazilia, Peru, Columbia, Argentina, Liban, Israel, Iran, Singapore, Thailanda, Malaesia, Indonezia, China, Japonia, Hong-Kong, Filipine, Egipt, Algeria, Maroc ), in 61 capitals, over 80 cities and 331 cities worldwide.
At about 1100 opera he argued the globe played important roles 45; 1500 songs sang in nearly 1600 concerts.
His career took him on the most important stages of work between the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the Vienna Staatsoper, Opera of Paris, works in Seattle, Hamburg, Munich, Berlin, St. Petersburg, Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Dallas or the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow, having as partners Mario Del Monaco, Placido Domingo, Mirella Freni, Renata Scotto, Virginia Zeani, Montserrat Caballé, Luciano Pavarotti, J. MacCracken, Franco Corelli, N. Rossi-Lemeni, Giuseppe Di Stefano and others under the baton of Riccardo Muti, Lorin Maazel, Georges Pretre, Zubin Mehta, M. Rostropovitci, Tullio Serafin, Sir Colin Davis, etc.
He participated in 31 European festivals, American and Southeast Asian.
He was Honorary President of Donizetti Festival in Zvolen – Bratislava 1993-1999, Chairman of the International Competition Maria Callas – Thessaloniki – March 1978, was a jury member at international competitions Vichy, France – August 1979; Lansing University – April-May 1978; Michigan, United States – 1979; Ann Arbor University – in June 1979, Cardiff, Wales – July 1983; Thessaloniki and Veria – from 1989 to 2005 (three times Chair).
Since 1979 held master classes in the United States, Britain, France, Philippines, Greece, Turkey (6 years and a half living in Istanbul) and Romania.
He was a professor at the Academy of Music in Bucharest. Since 1993 Dan Iordachescu is a member of Composers and Musicologists Union of Romania.
In 2007, at 77 years he was still invited to concerts and shows in Romania, Greece and Spain.
With 61-year career has become the longest uninterrupted interpreter living in the world.
