Dame Margaret Joan Anstee was born on June 25, 1926, and died on August 25, 2016.
She was a British diplomat.
She served at the United Nations for over four decades (1952–93), rising to the rank of an Under-Secretary General in 1987.
Margaret Anstee worked on operational programmes of economic and social development in all regions of the world, mostly with the United Nations Development Programme.
Dame served as Director General of the United Nations at Vienna, from 1987-1992, Head of the Centre for Social Development and Humanitarian Affairs and Coordinator of all United Nations narcotic drug-control programs.
Between 1992-93 she was the Secretary General’s Special Representative to Angola.
Dame Margaret Anstee passed away at 90 years old.
