Cyril Pavlov, elder Cyril was born on September 8, 1919, in Russian, and died on February 20, 2017.

He was a Russian Orthodox Christian mystic, elder, wonder-worker and Archimandrite.

He was confessor to Patriarch Alexy II.

Pavlov was also confessor to the previous patriarchs Alexy I and Pimen.

When he completed the polytechnical college he worked as a technician at a metallurgic plant.

He served in the military during World War II, active for six years, starting in the Soviet-Finnish War; he also took part in the Battle of Stalingrad.

Pavlov was awarded the medal and title of “Hero of the Soviet Union” for his part in the defense of Stalingrad.

Whilst he was a soldier, Pavlov reached Austria and participated in the battles at Lake Balaton.

During 1946, Cyril Pavlov was demobilized in Hungary and came to Moscow.

Father Cyril lives in Peredelkino, in the residence of the Holy Patriarch of all Russia Aleksy II.

Cyril Pavlov passed away at 97 years old.
