Corno, Canadian artist, Died at 64

Joanne Corneau was born on November 22, 1952 in Chicoutimi, Canada and died on December 21, 2016.

She was better known by the pseudonym Corno,

She was a Canadian artist from the Saguenay region of Quebec.

Corno achieved international recognition for her large-scale paintings of women’s faces and bodies in a “post-pop” style.

Corno moved to Montreal in the early 1970s and studied for a Bachelor’s degree of Fine Arts at the University of Quebec in Montreal.

She had her first exhibition at the Clarence Gagnon Gallery in Montreal and also exhibited in Toronto, Calgary, Ottawa and Vancouver.

During 1986, Corno presented her work at the Quebec Pavilion at Expo 86 in Vancouver.

In that period she was represented by the Yves Laroche Gallery in Montreal.

He travelled to Mexico to seek medical treatment for throat cancer, but she died there.

Joanne Corneau passed away at 64 yeas old.
