Clifford Hamilton Whiting was born on May 6, 1936 and died on July 16, 2017.

He was a New Zealand Māori artist, heritage advocate and teacher.

He came from Te Kaha, New Zealand, and affiliated to the Te Whānau-ā-Apanui tribe.

During 1955, he started teacher training at Wellington Teachers’ College where his artistic talents were quickly recognised.

Cliff was conferred an honorary Doctor of Literature degree by Massey University.

Cliff Whiting passed away at 81 years old.
