Charles Hirsch “Chuck” Barris was born on June 3, 1929 and died on March 21, 2017.

He was an American game show creator, producer, and host.

Chuck was best known for hosting The Gong Show and creating The Dating Game and The Newlywed Game.

Barris was also a songwriter, he wrote the hit “Palisades Park” for Freddy Cannon and the author of Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, his autobiography, which became a film directed by George Clooney.

Chuck was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

His parents were Edith (Cohen) and Nathaniel Barris, a dentist.

Barris attended Drexel Institute of Technology where he was a columnist for the student newspaper, The Triangle.

Barris graduated in 1953.

Chuck Barris passed away at 87 years old.
