Charles LeMaistre, American academic administrator, Died at 92

Charles Aubrey “Mickey” LeMaistre was born on February 10, 1924, in Lockhart, Alabama and died on January 28, 2017.

He was an American physician, medical educator, and academic administrator.

He served as chancellor of the University of Texas System from 1971 to 1978.

He also served as president of the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center from 1978 to 1996.

Charles received his bachelor of arts degree from the University of Alabama and earned his medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College of Cornell University in 1947.

LeMaistre did his medical residency in New York Hospital and completed a fellowship in tuberculosis and infectious diseases at Cornell University.

He died in Houston.

Charles LeMaistre passed away at 92 years old.
