Cedric Ritchie, Canadian banker, Died at 88

Cedric Elmer Ritchie was born on August 22, 1927, and died on March 20, 2016.

He was a Canadian businessman and chairman and CEO of The Bank of Nova Scotia.

Ritchie was also chairman of the Business Development Bank of Canada since 2001.

He was the son of a potato farmer, at age 17 he began working as a teller in The Bank of Nova Scotia’s Bath, New Brunswick branch.

During 1958, Cedric became the assistant branch manager in Toronto and in 1970 the chief general manager.

He also served as an Officer of the Order of Canada, in 1981 in recognition of “his wide knowledge of banking and commerce”.

In 2000, Cedric Elmer Ritchie was inducted into the Canadian Business Hall of Fame.

Ritchie was appointed to the Board of Directors of Twin Mining Corporation, in 2003.

Ritchie also a member of the Board of Director of Canada Post.

Cedric Elmer Ritchie passed away at 88 yrs old.
