Cassandra Butts, American lawyer, Died at 50

Cassandra Quin Butts was born on August 10, 1965, and died on May 26, 2016.

She was a United States lawyer, policy expert and former Deputy White House counsel.

She was selected by President-elect Obama to serve as Deputy White House Counsel, on December 23, 2008, focusing on domestic policy and ethics.

Cassandra Butts was also on the advisory board for then-president-elect Barack Obama’s presidential transition team.

Cassandra Butts stepped down as Deputy White Counsel in November 2009 and served as Senior Advisor in the Office of the Chief Executive Officer at the Millennium Challenge Corporation.

The president Obama had nominated her to be the ambassador to the Bahamas, in February 2014 but by February 1, 2015, the Senate had not confirmed her to the post.

Cassandra Butts was re-nominated to the position on February 5, 2015.

Cassandra Butts passed away at 50 yrs old.
