Carmelo Cassati was born on April 6, 1924, in Tricase, and died on February 3, 2017.

He was an Italian prelate of Roman Catholic Church.

When he died, he was one of the oldest bishops from Italy.

He was ordained a priest on December 17, 1949, from the religious order of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart.

During 1950, he was sent as a Missionary to Brazil and then, in 1951, to Peru.

He was appointed secretary by the Apostolic Nuncio of Peru, Giovanni Panico,

Cassati was the diocese until his retirement on November 13, 1999.

He had lived in Eufemia-Tricase.

Carmelo Cassati passed away at 92 years old.
