Carl Fredrik Reuterswärd was born on June 4, 1934 and died on May 3, 2016.

He was a Swedish painter and sculptor.

Carl studied with Fernand Léger in Paris 1951 and was a professor of painting at The Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm 1965-1969.

Reuterswärd briefly served as a guest professor at the Minneapolis School of Art, Minneapolis, Minnesota, during 1974.

Reuterswärd was awarded the Prince Eugen Medal for painting, in 1986.

Carl was also known for his sculpture showing a revolver tied in a knot, called Non-violence, on display outside the Headquarters of the United Nations in New York City.

His versions of the work iare also on view in Berlin, Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmö, Lund, Borås, Caen and Kirchberg.

Carl Fredrik Reuterswärd passed away at 81 yrs old.
