Bronisław Baczko was born on June 13, 1924, and died on August 29, 2016.

He was a Polish philosopher and historian of ideas.

With the help of Leszek Kołakowski, Baczko was a leading figure in the Warsaw School of the history of ideas in the late 1950s and 1960s.

In 2011, he won the Balzan Prize for his work on the Age of Enlightenment.
