Sir William Hepburn McAlpine, 6th Baronet was born on January 12, 1936, and died on March 4, 2018.

He was a British businessman who was director of the construction company Sir Robert McAlpine.

His first wife Jill Benton Jones, whom he married on 31 October 1959, was an alcoholic who died in 2003.

Together the couple had two children: Andrew William McAlpine, born 22 November 1960; and Lucinda Mary Jane McAlpine, born 19 June 1964.

McAlpine married his second wife, Judith, whom he had known for many years, on 25 March 2004 at the restored station on his private railway.

McAlpine died on 4 March 2018.
