Brahim Chergui was born in 1922, and died on January 7, 2016.

He was an Algerian militant.

He was known as H’mida was a revolutionary militant during the Algerian war of independence.

Brahim Chergui was the first leader of the Zone Autonome d’Alger (ZAA).

He was captured by the French paratroopers on February 24, 1957.

Brahim Chergui was placed into the cell next door to Larbi Ben M’hidi.

He was severely tortured and was imprisoned in the Serkadji prison in Algiers until being released when Algeria gained independence in 1962.

Brahim Chergui passed away at 94 yrs old in Hôpital Militaire Aïn Naâdja, Algiers.
