Robert Walter Dews, Jr., Known as Bobby Dews was born on March 23, 1939, in Iowa, and died on December 27, 2015.

He was an American baseball player and coach.

He was an infielder in Minor League Baseball and a coach in Major League Baseball.

Bobby came from Iowa, in a small town of Clinton, thereafter he move to rural Edison, Georgia, to live with his grandparents at an early age.

Robert graduated from Edison High School, now called Calhoun County High School.

He started out playing baseball and basketball for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets before being drafted by the St Louis Cardinals.

Bobby received his associate degree in 1963 from Andrew College in Cuthbert, Georgia, this was his family way.

He then graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from West Georgia College.

Robert had played and managed the Cardinals Minor League system before he joined the Atlanta Braves organization in 1974.

The year 2008, sealed Dews 35th consecutive season with the Braves, including 14 years spent as a coach on the major league level.

In 1974, Robbert started working with the Braves organization, and managed at multiple minor league levels, while serving as field coordinator of instruction in its farm system.

Robert retired as the Braves, after the 2006 season’ bullpen coach to become a roving coach.

After he continued to worked with the Braves at home games and for the minor league teams when the major league club left home to play out.

In March 2003 an article was published in the Atlanta magazine printed Vol. 42, No. 12, Page 60.

Robert references his writings from as far back as 35 years prior.

Bobby Dews book the Legends Demons and Dreams, originally released in hardcover by Longstreet Press in 2005 and published in paperback in 2007 by Literati Press.

Robert Dews became a writer-in-residence at Andrew College in Cuthbert, Georgia, where he attended college for a short time.

However as a writer-in-residence at Andrew, Robert completed and published a second collection of stories entitled An Illusion of Victory, which were released by CreateSpace in 2009.

Bobby Dews passed away at 76 yrs old in 2015 in Albany, Georgia.
