Bob Wootton, American country guitarist, Died at 75

Bob Wootton was born on March 4, 1942, in Paris, Arkansas and died on April 9, 2017.

He was an American guitarist.

Wootton became partners with Johnny Cash’s backing band, the Tennessee Three, after original lead guitarist Luther Perkins, died in a house fire.

Bob was Cash’s guitarist for nearly thirty years.

Wootton’s most popular moment was at San Quentin State Prison where Cash’s live album was recorded.

He stood on such tracks as “I Walk the Line” and “Folsom Prison Blues”.

He went on in the band with only a brief respite until Cash retired from active touring in 1997.

However, he did not participate in the recording sessions that became known as Cash’s American Recordings albums.

He was married to Vicky Wootton, they had a daughter, Scarlett Wootton.

Bob died in Gallatin, Tennessee.

Bob Wootton passed away at 75 years old.
