Binyamin Elon, Israeli politician, Died at 62

Rabbi Binyamin “Benny” Elon was born on November 10, 1954, and died on May 5, 2017.

He was an Israeli Orthodox rabbi and politician.

Elon served as a member of the Knesset for Moledet and the National Union between 1996 and 2009.

Binyamin was a ninth-generation Jerusalemite.

He has lived in Beit El, an Israeli settlement in the West Bank, for the last twenty years, and is married to author and journalist Emuna Elon.

Together they had six children.

Binyamin’s father, Menachem Elon, was the former Deputy Chief Justice of Israel.

Binyamin’s brother, Rabbi Mordechai Elon, is a prominent controversial figure in the Religious Zionist Movement.

He died due to complications from throat cancer.
