Bill Cardille, American television host , Died at 87

William Robert Cardille was born on December 10, 1928, and died on July 21, 2016.

He was known as Bill Cardille and “Chilly Billy”.

He was a broadcast personality from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

For years he did hosting on many other local shows on WIIC (at a time where local stations often produced a significant amount of local programming), ,he became the host of the show, for which he was probably best known: Chiller Theatre, a late night Saturday program that showed horror and science fiction films.

That particular show earned him his nickname “Chilly Billy.”

However, that program aired from 1963 until its cancellation in 1983.

The known Pittsburgh native, Joe Flaherty, acknowledges this show as an influence in the formation of the popular “Monster Chiller Horror Theatre” sketches on SCTV.

UP Until 2014, Bill Cardille was heard on radio station WJAS AM 1320 in the mid-day slot.

Bill, however, retired from WJAS in 2014.

Over the period of his retirement, he resided in McCandless, in Pittsburgh’s North Hills, with his wife Louise.

Bill Cardille passed away at 87 years old.
