Benoît Violier was born on August 22, 1971, in Saintes, Charente-Maritime, France and died on January 31, 2016, in Crissier, Switzerland.

He was a French-Swiss chef.

Benoit was the owner of the three Michelin star Restaurant de l’Hotel de Ville since 2012.

In December 2015, the eatery topped the first La Liste.

He arrived in Paris in 1991 to study with Joel Robuchon, Benoit Guichard and others.

Benoit then relocated to Switzerland in 1996 to work with Philippe Rochat.

Rochat’s retirement came in 2012, Benoit Violier started running the restaurant.

Benoit applied for Swiss citizenship in 2014.

Violier trained in cooking industry.

Benoît Violier passed away at 44 yrs old at home, due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
