Bengt Nyholm, Swedish footballer, died at 85

Bengt Nyholm, born on January 30, 1930 and died September 10, 2015.

He was a Swedish association football goalkeeper. He was awarded the Guldbollen Award in 1961.

Bengt “Zamora” Nyholm debuted in the league in 1951 and played a total of 203 premier division games for his IFK Norrkoping.

During his active career Bengt won the national championship six times.

His first match for the A squad, he played in 1959 and then became a further 29 caps for blue and yellow.

Bengt also played three B-national team struggles.

After his active football career became involved Nyholm in trot and was for many years a professional trotting trainer at Mantorp racetrack.

Even golf and bowling were two of his main interests.

“Bengt missed until his death rarely or never a race at Mantorp and was a spirited 85-year-old into the final playing golf regularly.

Mantorp racetrack has lost a profile and friend who by his straightforward and honest manner was appreciated and respected everywhere” they write on their website. “Our thoughts go out to his wife, Maud and other family.”

Bengt Nyholm died at age 85 on September 10, 2015.
