Barry Jones, New Zealand Roman Catholic prelate, Died at 74

Barry Philip Jones was born on September 29, 1941, in North Canterbury, New Zealand and died on February 13, 2016.

He was the ninth Bishop of Christchurch, New Zealand.

Barry succeeded Bishop Cunneen in 2007.

Jones was ordained a priest on July 4, 1966, aged 24, by Bishop Brian Patrick Ashby.

During June 28, 2006, Barry was appointed as Coadjutor Bishop of Christchurch, New Zealand and consecrated on October 4, 2006.

On May 4, 2007, he succeeded to the position of Bishop of Christchurch, New Zealand on the retirement of his predecessor John Cunneen.

He had a heart attack.

Barry Jones passed away in February 2016., at 74 yrs old.
