Bangladeshi sculptor, Ferdousi Priyabhashini, Died at 70

Ferdousi Priyabhashini was born on February 19, 1947, in Khulna and died on March 6, 2018.

She was a Bangladeshi sculptor.

Priyabhashini was the first in her publicly announce herself as Birangona, a term coined by Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for the rape victims of the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971.

The Government of Bangladesh awarded her Independence Day Award in 2010.

Her parents Rowshan Hasina and Syed Mahbubul Hoque.

During 1963, she was married to an artist.

She had to work in a jute mill for her family, but financial problems grew and the couple got separated in 1971.

Later she decided to become a sculptor.

From 1990, Priyabhashini has exhibited her works through exhibitions. Her first exhibition was jointly inaugurated by artist SM Sultan and poet Sufia Kamal and anchored by Syed Shamsul Haque.

Her husband Ahsanullah Ahmed, whom she married in 1972 had three sons and three daughters.

She died at 70 years old.
