B. B. Bhattacharya, Indian economist and educationalist, Died at 71

Barid Baran Bhattacharya was born on March 9, 1945, in Silchar, Assam and died on February 14, 2017.

He was an Indian economist and educationist.

Bhattacharya was vice-chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University.

B. B. Bhattacharya was also Director and Professor at the Institute of Economic Growth, Delhi.

Bhattacharya’s father was a civil engineer who belonged to the very first batch of Jadavpur Engineering College.

Bhattacharya’s mother was a homemaker.

Bhattacharya spent his childhood growing up in Silchar, where he completed his High School from the then Narsing High School, Silchar, Assam securing 1st Division marks in 1959 and other places across India as his father had a transferable job.

B. B. Bhattacharya passed away at 71 years old.
