Dame Beryl Edith Beaurepaire was born Beryl Edith Bedggood on September 24, 1923, in Camberwell, Victoria and died on October 24, 2018.

She was an Australian political activist, feminist and philanthropist.

She grew up in a middle-class family who ran a shoe manufacturing company.

Dame Beryl Beaurepaire was educated at Fintona Girls’ School.

Beaurepaire served as a meteorological officer in the Women’s Auxiliary Australian Air Force from early 1942 to late 1945.

Beaurepaire married Ian Francis Beaurepaire (1922–1996); the couple had twin sons, in 1946.

Ian Beaurepaire was Lord Mayor of Melbourne from 1965–67.

Dame Beryl Beaurepaire father-in-law, Sir Frank Beaurepaire, had also been Lord Mayor 1940–42.

Beaurepaire passed away at 95 years old.
