August Englas was born on January 15, 1925, in Otepää and died on March 21, 2017.

He was an Estonian wrestler.

He competed for the Soviet Union.

During the 1952 Summer Olympics, when defeating Adil Atan, Shirang Vithoba Jadav and Max Leichter and losing against Henry Wittenberg and Viking Palm, he took fourth place.

Englas won the gold medal at the 1953 and 1954 World Championship.

August Englas passed away at 92 years old.
