Arturo Pérez de Alejo Rodríguez was born in 1951, and died on January 25, 2017.

Arturo was president of the human rights organization Frente Escambray and activist supporter of the Varela project.
Alejo Rodríguez was a member of the Democratic Action Movement, National Action Party, and the Independent Democratic Front.
Arturo Pérez de Alejo Rodríguez was imprisoned during the Black Spring in 2003 and sentenced to 20 years in prison.
When he was in his arrest, he was president of the Escambray Human Rights Front.
He died in Miami, Florida.
