Luciano Benjamín Menéndez was born on 19 June 1927 and died on 27 February 2018.

He was a former Argentine general and convicted human rights violator and murderer.

He served as Commander of the Third Army Corps from 1975 to 1979, Luciano played a prominent role as a murder of social activists.

(Not to be confused with his cousin Mario Benjamín Menéndez, another Argentine general of the Dirty war, the two are nephews of Benjamín Andrés Menéndez, an Argentine general who led a (frustrated) putsch against Peron in 1951).

On 4 July 2014 himself and Luis Estrella were found guilty of ordering the murder of Enrique Angelelli, bishop of La Rioja, Argentina, in August 1976.

Menéndez received an additional life sentence.

He died at 90 years old.
