Legendary Bangladeshi photographer and cinematographer Anwar Hossain was born on October 6, 1948, and died on December 1, 2018.

Anwar Hossain was the winner of the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Cinematography a record five times for the films Surja Dighal Bari (1979), Emiler Goenda Bahini (1980), Puraskar (1983), Anya Jibon (1995) and Lalsalu (2003).

He was a Film Society activist from early in the 1970s.

He has been considered one of the greatest of Bangladeshi cinematographers and Father of Modern photography in Bangladesh.

Hossain was a founding member of Bangladesh Photographic Society and was an adviser of Moviyana Film Society.

He began his photography career in 1967.

Hossain’s photography captured the Liberation War of Bangladesh.

He worked as a cinematographer of total 15 fictions and 30 documentary films.

He moved to France in 1995 after the death of his first wife Dolly Anwar in 1991.

Anwar Hossain in 1993 married a French woman Mirium and he had two sons name Akash & Meghdoot.

He was found dead in the Olio Dream Haven hotel in Panthapath area in Dhaka on December 1, 2018.

This hotel he stayed while he was serving as a judge for a local photography competition.

Anwar Hossain passed away at 70 years old.
