Chief Antonio Oladeinde Fernandez was born in 1936 in Lagos, Nigeria and died on September 1, 2015.
He was a Nigerian Business magnate, Diplomat and Permanent Representative of Central African Republic to the United Nations.
Antonio Deinde Fernandez was thought of as one of the richest men in Africa.
Fernandez family originated from Cuba.
He started his political career in 1996 as Consul of the Repubilc of Dahomey.
The chief served as advisor to the Angolan Government in Economic matter in 1982.
After two years, Antonio became Deputy Permanent Representative of Mozambique to the United Nations in 1984.
Chief Antonio Fernandez ran an oil company called Petro Inett which obtained a 50% share, with the South African-based Energy Africa Limited in a deal with the state oil company for exploration rights in a 4,700 km2 area of Angola’s coast in 1996.
Antonio was also appointed as Special Adviser to the President of Mozambique on International Economic Matters for three years.
He marries Aduke Fernandez, they were divorced in July 2003 following a £ 300m divorce suit in Scotland filled on July 1, 2003 by her counsel. She died later in 2013.
Chief Antonio Fernandez passed away on the September 1, 2015 in Belgium after battling with an undisclosed illness for several months.
