Andrew “Andy” Gordon Ganteaume was born on January 22, 1921, and died on February 17, 2016.

He was a Trinidadian cricketer.

He also played one Test match for the West Indies in 1948 as a batsman.

Andy has scored 112 in his only Test innings, which left him with highest Test batting average in history.

The cricketer played for Trinidad from a young age and was chosen to play in a Test match against England following his good batting form in 1948.

Despite his slow scoring seemingly cost him his place and he never played another Test, although he toured England with the West Indies in 1957.

Since of 2014, Ganteaume was the oldest surviving West Indies Test cricketer.

Andy Ganteaume was responsible for the top-scoring in the lowest completed innings in West Indian first-class cricket history, scoring 9 runs of Trinidad’s innings total of just 16 against Barbados in July 1942.

Andy Ganteaume passed away at 95 yrs old.
