Willie Lee McCovey was born on January 10, 1938, and died on October 31, 2018.

He was nicknamed “Mac”, “Big Mac”, and “Stretch”.

He was an American professional baseball first baseman.

He played for the San Francisco Giants of Major League Baseball for 19 seasons, and three more in MLB for the San Diego Padres and Oakland Athletics, somewhere in the range of 1959 and 1980.

He batted and tossed left-gave and was enlisted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1986.

A standout amongst the scariest power hitters of his time, McCovey was classified “the scariest hitter in baseball” by pitcher Bob Gibson, an evaluation with which Reggie Jackson agreed.

McCovey’s great swing produced 521 homers, 231 of which he hit in Candlestick Park, the most hit there by any player, and incorporated a grand slam on September 16, 1966, depicted as the longest at any point hit in that stadium.

He was the seventh offspring of ten destined to Frank and Esther McCovey.

He started working low maintenance at 12 years old and dropped out of secondary school without graduating with the end goal to work fulltime.

Preceding playing for the San Francisco Giants, McCovey played for a Giants’ homestead club in Dallas, Texas that was a piece of the Class AA Southern League.

In that group, he didn’t take part when his group played in Shreveport, Louisiana because of isolation in that city.

He later played for the Pacific Coast League Phoenix Giants only before joining the San Francisco Giants. McCovey’s first marriage was to Karen McCovey, and they had a little girl together.

On August 1, 2018, McCovey wedded Estela Bejar at AT&T Park.

In 1996, McCovey and Duke Snider pled blameworthy to government assess extortion charges.

As indicated by the charges, they had neglected to report about $10,000 in wage from games card shows and memorabilia deals from 1988 to 1990.

McCovey was given two years of probation and fined $5,000.

He got an exonerate from President Barack Obama on January 17, 2017.

Willie Lee McCovey passed away at 80 years old at Stanford University Medical Center on October 31, 2018, following hospitalization for an infection.
