Orin C. Smith was born in 1942 and died on March 2, 2018.

He was President and Chief Executive Officer of Starbucks Corporation from 2000 to 2005.

Smith joined Starbucks as the Vice President and the Chief Financial Officer in 1990.

Smithe then became the President and Chief Operating Officer in 1994, and became a director of Starbucks in 1996.

Smith graduated from W. F. West High School in Chehalis, Washington where he grew up, and the local Vernetta Smith branch library in Chehalis, part of the Timberland Regional Library system, bears his mother’s name.

Smith resided in Seattle, Washington.

He died due to pancreatic cancer.

He died at 75 years old.
