American billionaire investor, Matthew Mellon, Died at 53

Matthew Taylor Mellon II was born on January 28, 1964, in New York City and died on April 16, 2018.

He was the Chairman of the New York Republican Party’s Finance Committee.

Mellon was named Finance Chairman by State Chairman Ed Cox in May 2011.

He relocated in New York City with his wife Nicole Hanley Mellon, their two children, and a daughter who he raised jointly with his former wife, Tamara Mellon.

During February 2018 Forbes magazine reported that an investment in the crypto currency XRP, known widely as Ripple, resulted in Matthew Mellon attaining an over one billion dollar fortune on paper.

He died in a Cancun, Mexico drug rehabilitation facility.
