American actress, Diana Sowle, Died at 88

Diana Sowle was born on June 19, 1930, and died on October 19, 2018.

She was an American actress of film and theatre and voice artist.

She was most popular for her role of Mrs. (Hellen) Bucket (Charlie Bucket’s mother) in the 1971 film Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, and her performance of the song “Cheer Up Charlie” in that film although her voice was dubbed by Diana Lee.

Sowle’s only other screen roles were in 1994 when she appeared in Clear and Present Danger and Guarding Tess.

She also did voice-overs as the character Agatha in the 2008 video game Fallout 3.

Diana Sowle often performed in the long-running play Shear Madness at the Kennedy Center, portraying socialite Eleanor Shubert.

During mid-2012, Diana appeared in a production of Love Letters with F-Troop star Larry Storch in Farmville, Virginia, to benefit The Tom Mix Rangers.

Diana Sowle passed away at 88 years old.
