Álvaro Pérez Intriago was born on August 10, 1936, and died on August 2, 2016.
He was Ecuadorian lawyer and politician.
He served as the former Mayor of Quito from 1978 until 1982.
Intriago also served as a deputy in the former National Congress from 1984 to 1986 and again from 1996 until 2002.
He served on the Quito city council from 1967 to 1970.
Then became the Provincial Prefect of Pichincha Province from 1970 to 1976.
He served as Mayor of Quito, the nation’s capitol, from 1978 to 1982.
He oversaw the construction of two of the city’s major avenues, Occidental and Eloy Alfaro.
Intriago also spearheaded the building of the Mercado Mayorista and moved one of the city’s bus terminals, Terminal Terrestre de Cumandá, to the outskirts of Quito.
He announced his candidacy for President of Ecuador, choosing Xavier Neira as his running mate for the Social Christian Party in the 2002 election, but the duo were unsuccessful.
During 2005, Pérez was appointed Ambassador to the United States by President Alfredo Palacio, but Perez never ran for office.
Álvaro Pérez Intriago passed away at 79 years old.
