Alfred C. Marble Jr., American Episcopal prelate, Died at 80


Alfred Clark Marble, Jr. (known as “Chip”) was born on April 4, 1936 and died on March 30, 2017.

He was a bishop of the Episcopal Church in the United States.

Marble Jr. was consecrated to the episcopate on June 15, 1991 and was bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Mississippi from 1993 to 2003.

Following his retirement, he served as assisting bishop in the Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina.

He studied at the University of Mississippi, the University of the South’s School of Theology, and the University of Edinburgh.

In his time in North Carolina, he was involved in setting up the Greensboro Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

Alfred C. Marble Jr. passed away at 80 years old.
