Alex Tizon was born on October 30, 1959, in Manila, Philippines and died on March 23, 2017, in Eugene, Oregon.

He was an American author and Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist.

Tizon’s book Big Little Man, a memoir and cultural history, explores themes related to race, masculinity, and personal identity.

Tizon taught at the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication.

He was the second of nine children.

Tizon immigrated with his family in 1964 as part of the first big wave of Asian immigration to the United States in the modern era.
