Seyed Ahmed Seyed Alavi Moulana was born on January 1, 1932, and died on June 15, 2016.
He was the 5th Governor of Western Province, having assumed office on February 1, 2002.
When he started his career in politics, it was in 1948, as a Trade Unionist, Moulana was a veteran Sri Lankan politician and leader.
Alavi was a member of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, he was Cabinet Minister of Labour, and a Councilor in the Colombo Municipal Council.
Moulana was the Senior Vice-President of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party and is also a social and religious worker.
Alavi also served as acting Governor for Sabaragamuwa in 2009.
He has received many national and international awards for decades of service to trade unionism.
Moulana has received National awards by former President Chandrika Kumaratunga for more than 45 years of service rendered for the Trade Union movement in Sri Lanka.
Moulana has also received several Vishvaprasadini and National and International awards as member of the World Federation of Trade Unions.
Alavi Moulana passed away at 84 yrs old.
