Abolhassan Najafi was born in 1929 in Isfahan and died on January 22, 2016.

He was an Iranian writer and translator.

He started his literary activities in the 1960’s and translated several books.

Abolhassan co-published a successful literary periodical entitled Jong-e Isfahan.

Following the revolution, he published a controversial book on Persian usage entitled Let’s Avoid Mistakes.

The writer has published over 20 books, among these a dictionary on Persian slang, elements of general linguistics and its application to the Persian language.

Abolhassan Najafi has translated many famous French novels to Persian, notable works from Jean-Paul Sartre (Le Diable et le bon Dieu, Les sequestres d’Altona, Qu’est-ce que la literature), AndrĂ© Malraux (Antimemoire), Albert Camus (Caligula), Roger Martin du Gard (Les Thibault), Levi-Strauss (La race et l’histoire), and Antoine St-Exupery (Le Petit Prince).

Mr.Najafi was a current member of the Iranian Academy.

Before his death, he was writing a book on Persian prose and a Persian/French dictionary.

Abolhassan Najafi passed away at 87 yrs old.
