Kure was a member of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
During May 2000, Abdulkadir Kure introduced Sharia law in Niger State.

He was married to Zainab Abdulkadir Kure, a former civil servant and, since 2007, a member of the Nigerian Senate.
Together they had two daughters and four sons.
Abdulkadir Kure passed away at 60 years old.
